This fall, participants of the Ghostly Gallop 5K race and fun run/walk at Uncle John’s Cider Mill in St. Johns, Michigan, were able to enjoy a perfect autumn day filled with seasonal treats and the knowledge that they were helping make a difference. But beyond just supporting their own health by joining the event, they were part of something bigger—the High Five Turkey Drive.
Through its involvement in the Ghostly Gallop, Orange Insoles, a family-run company dedicated to health and comfort, demonstrated our ongoing commitment to supporting local communities. As a business focused on family health, Orange Insoles is especially drawn to causes that unite health, wellness, and community support. That’s why we proudly stood behind the Ghostly Gallop, a race that symbolizes more than just physical wellness. The event helps put Thanksgiving dinners on the tables of over 1,100 families in Mid-Michigan who may not otherwise enjoy this special holiday meal.
The High Five Turkey Drive: Nourishing Families, Feeding Hope
Since 2010, the High Five Turkey Drive has been on a mission to ensure every family can share in the joy of Thanksgiving. This annual initiative was led this year by our very own: Owen Keenoy, Fundraiser Manager of the High Five Turkey Drive. The project brings together Orange Insoles, WILX Channel 10, the Greater Lansing Food Bank, Playmakers, and the Midwest Independent Retailers Association to support families in need. The collective goal? To donate enough turkeys so that over 1,100 families in the Lansing area have a memorable Thanksgiving meal each year.
Each $30 donation to the High Five Turkey Drive provides a large turkey capable of feeding 12 to 14 people, and all contributions are tax-deductible. Owen highlighted the importance of community gatherings like the Ghostly Gallop: “Just having a fun time and getting everyone together really goes a long way. It not only brings awareness to all the great things going on in the community but creates opportunities for people to give back.” As a community-driven initiative, the High Five Turkey Drive is a reminder of the impact small actions can have when people come together.
If you couldn’t join the event but would still like to support the High Five Turkey Drive, there’s still time to make a donation here. Contributions of any size are appreciated and directly contribute to putting food on the tables of those who may need it most during the holiday season.
